Oak Ridges Moraine Photo Club Launch

Wednesday, May 27, 2015, (date has been changed)
7 – 9 pm

All Saints Anglican Church
12935 Keele Street, King City (south of King Road)
A project of the Oak Ridges Moraine Land Trust

This online photo club will encourage and enable exploration, discovery and sharing about what matters to people who live, work and play on the Oak Ridges Moraine. Through the photo club, nature appreciation and passive outdoor recreation experiences will combine with development of photographic skills. The result will be a collection of images and impressions which will document the aesthetics and biodiversity of the Moraine. Many unique ecosystems across Canada are readily identifiable through widely circulated iconic images. The beauty and importance of the Moraine lies in its diversity.

Photo-hike in Happy Valley

Meet at the King Township Museum
Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 1 pm

The King Township Museum
(2920 King Road, King Township, Ontario)

We will leave the Museum at 1:30 pm. You will receive driving directions to the hike starting location which is about a 10 minute drive from the Museum. The photo-hike duration will be about 1 1/2 hours.

We will hike a kilometer into the beautiful hardwood forest of Happy Valley. I will provide instruction on forest and plant photography .

After the leaves have fallen in the Fall and just before they come out in the Spring is a great time to photograph forests. The forests are open and light shines through to the forest floor creating interesting highlight and shadow effects. On dull days, fog or evaporation from the forest floor can create unusual effects .  While it is still early in the season we will likely see signs of emerging woodland plants and perhaps capture one or two migrating birds.

What to bring:

Appropriate clothing for weather conditions including sturdy hiking boots, your camera kit, a tripod as well as
water and snacks as you wish.

April 18th is the last day of my Three Forests Exhibition. If you haven’t had a chance to view it, drop by the Museum before it closes.
