Gnarly TwistedHow many different directions can tree branches grow as they try to reach for the sun. American beech trees seem to have no limits and will do amazing twists and turns to survive.

Acadian SucessionWhite birch tend to live between 60-70 years and a few may live to 140. In this forest many of the birches are dying. I estimate that many of the white birches in this forest are between 80 and a 100 years.
