Bird SanctuaryOn a hike in the Kentville Bird Sanctuary with a dusting of snow. The tree on the right with the gentle bend, likely happened when the tree was very young. Another falling tree beside it, may have pushed lightly against the young tree trunk, forcing the bent tree over slightly but as it grew, it straightened as it reached for the sun.

Drought Measurement 2025This is the lowest I've ever seen the water level on this lake. It is being measured from the rock to the water's edge on the beach. A normal summer's low water measure would be about 12". This has been an historic drought for this part of Nova Scotia.

Determined to GrowIt seems trees will grow almost anywhere. This is an example of a tree growing on a rock without soil and somehow manages to find nutrients to sustain it and survive incredible winds in this very exposed area in a large open lake.

EagletA Bald Eagle's offspring, about 10 weeks old. While it has fledged from the nest to a nearby tree it is still sticking close to home and waiting for it's parent to return.. The young leave the nest at 8 to 14 weeks of age, though they remain close to the nest and attended to by their parents for a further 6 weeks

EagletEaglet awaiting it's parent's return and food. This Bald Eagle - Eaglet - hasn't developed its white tail or head as yet. I first saw it about 2 weeks earlier and at the time it was still on the nest, much smaller and closer to black in colour.
