Determined to GrowIt seems trees will grow almost anywhere. This is an example of a tree growing on a rock without soil and somehow manages to find nutrients to sustain it and survive incredible winds in this very exposed area in a large open lake.

EagletA Bald Eagle's offspring, about 10 weeks old. While it has fledged from the nest to a nearby tree it is still sticking close to home and waiting for it's parent to return.. The young leave the nest at 8 to 14 weeks of age, though they remain close to the nest and attended to by their parents for a further 6 weeks

Mature Beech TreeThis tree is likely well over 100 years old. Eventhough it has Beech Bark Desease this is a healther tree than most in this area, Queens Co. N.S.

EagletEaglet awaiting it's parent's return and food. This Bald Eagle - Eaglet - hasn't developed its white tail or head as yet. I first saw it about 2 weeks earlier and at the time it was still on the nest, much smaller and closer to black in colour.

Disturbed RootsOn the left side of the photograph a tree leans away from the trail (most likely, originally built as a logging road). The roots of the tree have been disturbed during the making of the road and continued trail use has further weakened the tree roots.
