Walking Fern Trail

One of the more intriguing areas near Terra Cotta, Ontario is the Bruce Trail’s “Walking Fern  Side Trail” . While short, this side trail is on the lower side of a wooded and rocky north facing steep hill. The trail itself, although rocky, is relatively flat and contains numerous examples of the walking fern plant toward the end of the path. Along the way are interesting rock formations, mosses and lichens. During a sunny day the the light cascades through the trees highlighting various plants and under-story structures. Every hike on this trail is a new experience with different environmental features highlighted by the surrounding environment and weather conditions. Although the trail itself is short it is connected to the main Bruce Trail.
